Time to change a del sol radiator?

How long is it going to take me to change it out? Assuming i have a mechanically inclined buddy there helping.Time to change a del sol radiator?30 minutes to 1 hour. Provided you have all the necessary tools and know-how.

Good luck!Time to change a del sol radiator? It'll probably take you longer than one hour. Longer if it is automatic and has air conditioning. The Real Time Labour Guide says the job can take up to 2.5 hours. Make sure you run it till the thermostat opens up and %26quot;then%26quot; pour in the remaining antifreeze....(use brand new antifreeze to protect your new radiator).Time to change a del sol radiator?I would be that if the book calls for 2.5 hours, you better give yourself four with time to let the system get up to operating temperature so you can make sure it has %26quot;burped%26quot; out all the air bubbles. Good luck

Has anyone put a 1986 Turbo Toyota pickup engine in a 1994 Toyota pickup? ?

I am taking on this project and think I have to change the radiator, wiring, computer, and maybe dash parts. I wondered how the turbo motor would match up with my 22re regular transmission also.Has anyone put a 1986 Turbo Toyota pickup engine in a 1994 Toyota pickup? ?The engine's bellhousing should mate right up to the tranny in your truck. Most of the wiring ought to switch over too, including the dash wires. I don't think you'll need to switch your old instrument cluster into the new truck.

As to the computer and radiator, yeah, bring them over. I think the Turbo had a radiator with a built-in cooler for the turbo oil or something like that; whatever the case, you want to bring it over with the engine.

I'd hate to try to get the new computer to understand what was up with the old engine. Could it learn the new engine, then handle what was happening when the turbo spooled up? I doubt the programming is that flexible.

Anyway, boss project dude. Good luck with it.Has anyone put a 1986 Turbo Toyota pickup engine in a 1994 Toyota pickup? ?I put a 1986 Toyota pickup in the bed of my 1977 Ford F-350 4X4. If that helps.

How do I drain the coolant out of my motorcycle?

Where to get cheap used radiator for honda civic, and how to install? also how repair leaky transmission?

hi-

couple of issues on my honda civic that i need to fix-

first, where can i find a honda civic replacement radiator cap, and/or replacement radiator? where is the cheapest place to buy it? is it a super-involved job to change the radiator?

second, how do i repair a transmission that is leaking some fluid? i drove over some rocks that cut a few gashes in the engine and transmission. i was able to repair the engine leak with steel-reinforced epoxy, but the transmission, either i missed a puncture or two or the problem is different b/c i am still losing some transmission fluid. any tips - different compound, or better way to seal/fix?

thank you!Where to get cheap used radiator for honda civic, and how to install? also how repair leaky transmission?not to sound crazy but what were you thinking trying to put an epoxy on it, if your oil pan was punctured you need a new one or have a welder weld it once its off. your engine builds up so much pressure it could blow your epoxy off and give you an oil leak and boom goes your motor. trust me, cheap ways to fix things are nice i know but something like that is not smart at all, it can weaken in time too and you won't know it. for your transmission it could still have a hole in the pan, it mainly depends where the leak is, clean it off real good and locate it, if its the pan too replace it. if its where a gasket is just replace a gasket, or if its between the motor and the transmission it is your transmission pump leaking on the main seal and will blow your transmission if you keep on going. and a radiator you can get at a junk yard or ebay is the best for a new one. i got an aftermarket aluminum racing one for 125 shipped so if it cracks it can be welded and it doesn't keep heat at long at the plastic. they are easy to replace too its just two top brackets usually. good luckWhere to get cheap used radiator for honda civic, and how to install? also how repair leaky transmission?FIRST YOU CAN LOOK IN PHONE BOOK FOR A PARTS STORE LIKE PEP BOY'S / AUTO ZONE OR LOOK ONLINE FOR PARTS STORE USE INTERNET PHONE BOOK OR JUST GET PHONE BOOK ONCE YOU HAVE NUMBER TO A PARTS STORE THAT PARTS FOR CARS AND THEY WILL HELP YOU FOR FREE CALL THEM CALL SEVERAL OF THEM AND THEY CAN HELP YOU GOOD LUCK ALL WAYS TRY AND CALL AROUND FOR DIFFERENT PRICES ON FIXING YOU;R CAR ONCE YOU FIND PROBLEM OR THE PARTWhere to get cheap used radiator for honda civic, and how to install? also how repair leaky transmission?for the radiator go to ebay there is a ton of mods and OEM parts for civics for good prices, for the tranny id advise you to take it to a shop, epoxies and all that crap is never a good fix for that. im big on fixing things the cheapest way i can but your transmission is a whole different story when it comes down to that

  • No hot water or radiator heat-engineer advised radiator water is dirty, how much does it cost to clean this?

Just had a corgi engineer look at our combi boiler, cause we werent getting hot water or radiator wasnt heating up. I have no idea what he did to fix the problem, i wasnt at the house(my tenants were in), he was at the house for 45mins and fixed the problem and charged 180!!! I think ive been skanked but i dont know exactly what his done to challenge this. Anyhow he advised to change the radiator water, as it was dirty...who do i speak to carry out this service, and how much does it cost? And if i pay for annual boiler service, would this cover cleaning radiator water? No hot water or radiator heat-engineer advised radiator water is dirty, how much does it cost to clean this?the invoice will tell you exactly what he did for the 180 pounds

for that price he must have changed a part but it could have just been something simple meaning he has ripped you off.

ignore riga mortice - balancing the system would have meant you had poor heating not complete failure of HW and CH!!! lol

a powerflush is a full days job if done properly but it may not need doing if its a combi boiler. if its a very old system and used to support a cast iron heat exchanger in the old boiler and the rads are older than the boiler then it may need doing but usualy with a combi you can get away with fitting a magnaclean (magnetic filter) to catch any loose iron particles which try to circulate back through the boiler. These small particles get caught in the restricted waterways within the combi and block everything up. if i ever come accross this type of thing i always fill a small dish up for you too see for your self -

but im not a money grabbing ****, i get paid salary so i dont benefit for lying to customers!

you can always get a 1 off service from british gas and ask them to check a water sample while they are there - if you make sure you are there on the visit then you can see for your self for piece of mind!No hot water or radiator heat-engineer advised radiator water is dirty, how much does it cost to clean this?He should have flushed the system while he was there. No hot water or radiator heat-engineer advised radiator water is dirty, how much does it cost to clean this?what he probably did was drained out the entire system, then added this stuff to one of them (forgot what it's called, but you can get it at homebase lol, some kind of flushing agent) and then filled the system back up.

a little expensive, but it's about rite for what was done.

i dont think you will need to do it again for about 2-5 years. No hot water or radiator heat-engineer advised radiator water is dirty, how much does it cost to clean this?Report him to trading standards he hasn't flushed your system he has conned you and ripped you off by 180 for 5 minutes work balancing your systemNo hot water or radiator heat-engineer advised radiator water is dirty, how much does it cost to clean this?To clean the dirty water from the radiators they have to be individually flushed with a power washer (bit like a jet washer).

That is to close off the flow of water to the radiator by the valve, then disconnect the pipeline %26amp; connect the pressure washer %26amp; hence flush out with clean water.

Depending on how many radiators you have in the house it would take quite a while to do this properly,

I know because Ive done my own, I actually took out the radiators one by one %26amp; did it in the back garden !

I was getting hot water with dirty water, basically if the boilers PILOT light was lit %26amp; hot water was demanded there should be hot water.

Another reason for the radiators being cold is there could have been trapped air in the radiator, which is really easy to solve - bleed them with the key you get - a 2 min job !

Or alternatively was the temp / thermostat control set properly on each radiator %26amp; room sensor ?

The cost to clean all your radiators will be about 300 + as it is a relatively big job.

Do it yourself as its very easy !No hot water or radiator heat-engineer advised radiator water is dirty, how much does it cost to clean this?If this is a steam system, you should be flushing the low water cutoff/auto fill valve weekly. Around here (stateside) these are MacDonnell-Miller valves. They are usually on the side of the boiler and have a sight glass to show water level with a spring loaded water valve on the bottom.

Put a 5 gallon bucket under the valve and flush until clean water flows.

This is considered periodic home owner maintenance, and if I was on the service call, I would have done a more extensive job, (as a rule) but sometimes the work load doesn't allow one the time for perfection...

If this is a hydronic system, my apologies...

TomNo hot water or radiator heat-engineer advised radiator water is dirty, how much does it cost to clean this?you can hire a flushing unit from HSS to do the job follow the manual ideally each rad needs to be flushed individually. If you are competent with basic plumbing its not difficult to powerflush the unit

as for the 180 there is probably a call out fee of 60/70 + the time he spent and material.

    http://www.hss.com/g/51610/Central-Heati

its about 4/5 hour job if done properly so 67+Vat + chemicals + inhibitors i would say 120/150 for machine and chemicals this depends on the size of the system

But only attempt this if you feel competent to do it if its not done properly you may end up with sludge being filled in the boiler itselfNo hot water or radiator heat-engineer advised radiator water is dirty, how much does it cost to clean this?Ask for a fully detailed invoice. If no hot water or heating is just to turn in line taps on to bring pressure up to one bar. Cost 50.00 call out fee plus VAT.No hot water or radiator heat-engineer advised radiator water is dirty, how much does it cost to clean this?British gas charge around 600 quid to do a power flush which should take between 6 and 8 hours depending on the size of system, you can usually get someone cheaper out the paper but theres no guarantee after they are finished compared to the lifetime guarantee you get with the gas board.taking the rads off and flushing with a hose is another wat but it doesn't clean the pipework or the boiler. why would you pay 180 and not even know what was done anyway

Video on how to change a car radiator?

video on how to change a honda civic 99 radiatorVideo on how to change a car radiator? There's really no need for a video, it's very easy to do. Just turn the white knob on the bottom of the radiator, remove the radiator cap, and drain the coolant. Remove the coolant reservoir from it's bracket, and disconnect the hose attaching it to the radiator (from the radiator side). Unplug that radiator fan from the electrical connector. After the coolant stops dripping from the radiator, close off the knob, and start disconnecting the 2 large coolant hoses. When you start pulling off the hoses, more coolant is going to pour out of them, from the left over coolant in the engine. Unbolt the 2 radiator support brackets (2 bolts each), and the radiator can be pulled right up. When the radiator is out of the car, unscrew the fan from it.

Screw on the radiator fan to the new radiator. Make sure the rubber bushings are properly placed on the radiator supports, for the posts of the radiator to slide right in them. Slide the radiator into the bushings on the radiator support, and reinstall the radiator brackets on top. Attach the 2 big coolant hoses, and plug in the connector for the radiator fan. Reattach the coolant reservoir and attach the hose. Fill the radiator will coolant until it appears to be full. Start the car, and continue to fill it with coolant. When the fan kicks on (the temperature begins to rise about half way), it will suck in even more coolant. You can gently pull on the throttle to rev the engine a little to help warm it up sooner, just do it gently or coolant will fly everywhere. You can also try squeezing the big coolant hoses gently to help draw in more coolant as well as help expel air bubbles; they do start getting hot though. Fill coolant reservoir to the correct level.

When you stop seeing bubbles, and the radiator is full, take it for a short test drive. Watch the temperature and make sure it doesn't get too hot. If it starts getting hot, immediately turn around, park the car and turn it off; that will be an indication that you didn't get all the air pockets out yet. Take off the radiator cap (be careful of coolant spraying out), allow the air to escape, and refill with coolant. After a minute of 2, start it up again and let it warm up again (should be warmed up enough or close to it). Watch for more air, squeeze hoses gently, fill as needed. Repeat as needed, until no bubbles come out and the temperature is stabilized without over heating.

The hardest part will be burping the coolant system (getting the air out). But swapping out the radiator is an easy job.

    About my radiator hose...?

i need to change my radiator hose. i have a 98' dodge neon. my questions are: how much is the hose itself (upper hose) and how difficult is it to change it urself. what do i need to change it and how? please and thank you.About my radiator hose...?check the price with your local auto parts store on line. I use Autozone. Probably cost between $6 an $16 depending.

Upper hose is usually easiest. Unscrew two clamps. Should just take a standard screwdriver. Work when car is off and cool. Be prepared to replace the antifreeze you loose during the work. It can be a bit messy so be aware of where you are working.About my radiator hose...?should run you below 15 bucks and all you need is a pair of plyers nad some new clamps .it is as aesy as pie.About my radiator hose...?depending on the clamps, it should be fairly easy...if you have spring clamps, you may need a special pair of pliers...

and please, do not attempt this when the engine hot...About my radiator hose...?Upper radiator hoses are just about the easiest things to change. All you need is a flat head screwdriver. Unscrew the hose clamps and put the new ones on. Make sure that the car is not really hot when you do this because there is a chance you could get sprayed.About my radiator hose...?They aren't that much. any auto parts store should have one. I would also get 2 new hose clamps. I don't care for the spring loaded ones that they put on cars now. I like the old screw on clamps, you can always tighten them if they are loose. The whole thing should be less than 25 bucks or so.

  • How long is a Nissan Sentra supposed to last after its radiator is changed?

I am trying to buy a Nissan Sentra buit title because its radiator fell apart while in a high curve. I was wondering before i buy it how long is it expected to last. The car currently has about 79,000 miles and it's a 2007. Please, somebody that knows aobut cars tell me something about it and some other tips as well. Thanks. How long is a Nissan Sentra supposed to last after its radiator is changed?buit title because its radiator fell apart in a high curve? I don't know what your asking. MR-2.0 liter Sentra motors do not like sludge and oil must be changed at regular intervals. Rebuilt Title means the car was totaled in a crash the radiator just does not fall apart. In a crash the front end gets smashed back into the motor. CAR FAX costs a little following up with the vin# and asking a Nissan Dealer if they can run the warranty repair history. If the car has never seen a dealership be very suspicious. 79,000 miles in less than 3 years means this car was used and driven a lot of miles each year. If the engine has been overheated abused you may not know right away. I would walk away unless this car is very cheep. How long is a Nissan Sentra supposed to last after its radiator is changed?the radiator is a mute point.

the car should last until 150,000 miles with ease.

but to be sure have the compression check. if all cylinders are good, the car will hold out.How long is a Nissan Sentra supposed to last after its radiator is changed?Nissan is a good make of Import vehicles. Most Asian vehicles hold up better than the ones made in USA. I have had less problem with all the Nissans that I have owned.

If you meant %26quot;rebuit title%26quot; the failure of a radiator would not be the true reason for it having a rebuilt title. When buying a rebuilt title vehicle you really should have a professional check it out for you. A seller doesn't have to tell you what was really done for it to have a rebuilt title. Beware, of rebuilt titled vehicles because it affects the value of the vehicle and Car lots normally are not allowed by law to resale them. How long is a Nissan Sentra supposed to last after its radiator is changed?Generally, the radiator doesn't have much to do with how long the car will last, providing the car was not driven for an extended period of time without a working radiator. If the car was driven too much without a working radiator, though, it could cause permanent damage to the engine.

2005 Honda Civic Transmission and Radiator Fluid Change?

I was told I needed Transmission Fluid and Radiator Fluid change..

How much would both of the cost ? and if I had to pick one to do right now and the other later which one should I have done tomorrow?

I have a 2005 Honda Civic little over 61,000 miles ..2005 Honda Civic Transmission and Radiator Fluid Change?I would definitely change the transmission fluid.

At 60,000 miles it would be good to drain and refill it twice with a short drive in between to mix up the fluid. You might put off the cooling system but do it at least by this coming fall.

The reason is that the automatic tranny holds over 6 quarts but when you drain it only 2.9 quarts comes out. So to get out more of the old fluid you need to drain and refill it at least twice at your mileage. Use only Honda ATF fluid. Get it at the dealer or at a Carquest auto parts store. Cost is around $6.50 to $8 a quart. So doing it yourself will cost $40 to $50 for the fluid. Put a new washer on the drain plug as well.

Changing either of these will not make your car drive faster.

And DON'T flush a Honda transmission unless you are looking for trouble.2005 Honda Civic Transmission and Radiator Fluid Change?Just because it's a Honda doesn't mean proper maintenance shouldn't be done. Sure, transmission fluid can last up to 90,000 miles but that's under %26quot;normal%26quot; conditions. If you do a lot of city driving, short trips and such or live in more extreme warm or cold conditions it is recommended you change the fluid more often. If you never changed the fluid my suggestion is to do it now. It should cost between $100 and $150 for a good flush of the system.

Same goes for the radiator fluid but should be changed even more so. If it's the regular green fluid (in which I think Civics use) the most I would go would be 2 years or 30,000 miles. A flush should cost around $80 to $100.

Honda's are good cars, but not that good to skip maintenance. If I were you I would try to get both done more sooner then later.2005 Honda Civic Transmission and Radiator Fluid Change?its an 05 you wont need one of those for at least another 2 years, its a honda! its so easy to do on a Honda it shouldnt cost but 12 dollars and flud for the radiator. as far as the trans depends on the shop call around.

Flushing radiator and replacing thermostat on zx2 escort need tips?

I bought a new thermostat and seal and i want to flush my radiator and change my fluid i was wondering what all do i need to buy like what type of fluids and how much thanksFlushing radiator and replacing thermostat on zx2 escort need tips?Someone probably told you that you need a new thermostat because you weren't getting heat to come out of the heater. Common misconception.

First thing you should do is open the radiator cap when cold. Fill the radiator to the top with 50/50 antifreeze. Leave the cap off and start the car. Wait while the car warms up, adding antifreeze until the coolant starts to flow past the radiator opening. When it starts to flow, then you know your thermoatat is in good working condition because in a car, the thermostat is just suppose to delay the cooling of the engine until the car warms up, then it opens and stays open until the engine cools..

Put the cap back on and you should be good to go. But you should check the coolant level, at the radiator, when cold to ensure you don't have a leak.Flushing radiator and replacing thermostat on zx2 escort need tips?you only need water to flush the radiator but ensure you fill it with the corrct anti-freeze mix otherwise the waeter will corride the engine block and you'll end up needing a new engine. the auto shop will be able to help or simply look at the info on the containers.

If you still have the owner's manual the details will be there.

I'd take the rad cap off first so you get the fastest outflow possible, to help flush it out.

You might want to refill with straight water and drain that too, it all helps to shift the crud, before tightening up and refilling with the right mixtureHow do I drain the radiator on a '99 Megane?the last answer was spot on but be aware that Renault's can be temperamental and you must be sure to get all the air out of the system, there are bleed screws that you must be aware of.How do I drain the radiator on a '99 Megane? Many modern radiators do not have drain taps, as others have said, remove the bottom hose, It is a very good idea to flush thoroughly, and when you do so, note is the water goes through the radiators quickly or slowly; if slowly the radiator may be partly blocked. As another said, make sure you bleed all the air from the system; an airlock could overpressurise the system and blow the radiator! Use good antifreeze.

Would I be able to find one under $20,000?How much would a fixed up '67-'69 camaro cost?Depends on how much is original, ive seen these cars go for over $50,000 but yes a nice one with maybe some mods and plenty of bondo but good bodywork should average about $20,000.How much would a fixed up '67-'69 camaro cost? The pride one would have in doing it themselves is priceless.:)How much would a fixed up '67-'69 camaro cost?I agree with that. To simply throw money at one to buy it, can be done for under $20K. Patience and flexibility in the distance you are willing to go to get one.How much would a fixed up '67-'69 camaro cost? Here is an absolute wonderful web site that helps determine the value of almost any car. Just pick what you want under options for the Camaro like a 4 speed or a 427 or corvette air conditioner and it will give you three values for Low Retail Value, Average Retail Value, and High Retail Value. I used it and found out that my 73 Camaro LT RS is worth $10,000 as it sits for low retail value.

You could find one for under $20,000 but not much under $20,000. I see people pay $10,000 for a rusted out 69 camaro with no engine and needs a lot of work. But, I have seen a nice daily driver condition 69 Camaro for $17,000 in Saskatchewan before.

It sounds kind of original. There will be a lot of work involved to keep it up. And with a car that old there' usually a lot of hidden rust. Those cars have a lot of value when fixed up.1969 firebird good deal?if it is messed up try to make it a lower price then you can fix it up if it is not messed up test drive it before you buy it and see if the engine actually runs.

Re changing a radiator valve(not thermostat one), how do you blank the inlets to system and where to do it.?

The system is a sealed one which only does the central heating.Re changing a radiator valve(not thermostat one), how do you blank the inlets to system and where to do it.?If you are lucky, your radiator will have isolating valves on both the inlet and outlet. If not you will need to empty (drain-down) the whole system. This is not as daunting as it may sound. First, turn the boiler/heater off. Find the low-level drain point (usually near to a back or side door) and lead a length of hose pipe from the drain-off point to outside the house. The %26quot;header%26quot; tank for the system will be in a high part of the house (roof-void/loft/airing cupboard) Turn off the outlet valve/tap if it has one or place a piece of wood or garden cane across the top rim of the tank and tie the ball valve arm up to this to stop any water delivery into the tank. Finally open the low-level drain-off and when the water stops flowing from the hose-pipe outside, you can do what you like with the radiator. In case the water in the system has had a treatment additive make sure that none of it can fall onto any carpet or rug beneath the radiator - it will stain! When the job is done, untying the ball-valve or opening the outlet valve/tap will allow the system to refill. Don't forget the water treatment additive - your local hardware or builders' merchant will supply you with this. Good luck!Re changing a radiator valve(not thermostat one), how do you blank the inlets to system and where to do it.?There's an alternative to draining the system down - you can freeze the pipe below your radiator valve, and turn off the valve at the other end of the radiator, then you only have a radiator-full of water to deal with.

Make sure the radiator is cold before you start, and that the new valve is an exact replacement for the old one so you won't waste time modifying the pipework!

Freezer kits are available at larger DIY stores in the UK or from specialist plumbers merchants and they save loads of time and effort. Briefly, you wrap the pipe in foam lagging (supplied) then spray the can of freezing mixture in. The water freezes in a few minutes, and stays frozen for 20 - 30 minutes - plenty of time to swap your radiator valve, and if you're quick you won't even need to worry about the water in the rad. Just put a pan under the rad connection and work quickly!

Another bonus - as you will have lost almost no water there's no topping up to do (but vent the air from the top of the rad just in case).Re changing a radiator valve(not thermostat one), how do you blank the inlets to system and where to do it.?No need to blank any inlets off as the %26quot;mains cold water filling loop%26quot; will already be in the off position. If it wasn't you'd have crazy system pressure and could well be heating up the mains cold water supply if the non return valve was a bit duff !.

For a belt and braces approach you can disconnect the loop nearest the incoming valve.

Filling up is just a case of turning on the taps on the filling loop and raising the system pressure to 1 or 1.5 bar (cold) then venting the radiator - then topping up the pressure to 1 or 1.5 bar.

    Job done.

PS. The loop is generally a braided flexible pipe close to the boiler

Someone needs to find the leak if possible and stop it. That means and external inspection of all hoses, fittings, and even the heater core. If none can be found it could be a head gasket leak. A good radiator shop can test it for leaks.Does anyone know how much a dodge neon's radiator will cost also if anyone knows how much it will cost to chanIf you don't know how to work on a car yourself then your best bet is to have a trained mechanic do it for you, they will include the cost of ordering a new radiator and the labor to install it. If you prefer doing it yourself than you can contact your local auto parts store, we have Napa and Discount Auto Parts in my area and tell them the year, make, and model of your car and they can assist you on ordering a new radiator or check local junk yards or salvage shops for a cheap used one if you're low on cash. Have changed a radiator on a back boiler system but boiler wont kick in to heat them up?

how do i get the system to kick in or do i need to build up the pressure if so how do i do that ? please helpHave changed a radiator on a back boiler system but boiler wont kick in to heat them up?All you should need to do is refill and bleed for now.(add inhibitor later)

    Your problem is elsewhere.

    Is the boiler lit?

Is the thermostat turned up enough?

Is the pump running?Have changed a radiator on a back boiler system but boiler wont kick in to heat them up?You have air trapped in the radiator. There is a bleed valve on the radiator. Open this and you will hear the air hissing out. Let it continue until water bubbles out and then close. this should do the trick. There might also be air in other pipes to the system but if the radiator is clear it should rise to the feed and expansion tank in the loft. DO NOT fire up until the radiator is purged of the air.Have changed a radiator on a back boiler system but boiler wont kick in to heat them up?Check that the pilot light is on. and boiler stat is set high. Check that electrics for boiler are on. Follow makers instructions on the pull off panel under the gas fire.Have changed a radiator on a back boiler system but boiler wont kick in to heat them up?If you drained the system, then you either have not filled the hot water side of the system, (by opening the diverter valve manually, or you havn't bled the system properly, you may also have the timer, thermostat or room thermostat off, not turned power on, you bleed with the heating off, and you bleed rads from the bottom rooms first, working to upstairs. I think you are going to find this will cost you more than getting an engineer would have done in the first place.

HOw do i stop my radiator leak?

I have a 1995 nissan maxima and the radiator leaks pretty fast but it has nothing underneath the car when i leave it overnight and also i have looked at it by starting the car and the visible pipes don't seem to have a leak also. Should i change the radiator? How i can i know where its leaking from?I dont think it is the cap but i am not sureHOw do i stop my radiator leak?I would try to replace the cap, you should do so every so often anyways and they are very inexpensive. They have a product called stop leak for radiators, if the cap does not work. You may have to replace the radiator if these things do not work. You can tear the car up pretty bad if it overheats really bad. It could also be your water pump or something else. Its worth looking into!Good luck!HOw do i stop my radiator leak?Try a can of black pepper or 2.Works the same as radiator stop leak but doesn't gum up the cooling system like stop leak. That works for small leaks in the radiator. But of course you need to locate the leak and get it fixed properly.HOw do i stop my radiator leak?i would say just replace it.....radiators are tricky, you cant, in my experience, ever fix it completely.....just slow it down for a while....HOw do i stop my radiator leak?Change your radiator cap.HOw do i stop my radiator leak? How do you know your radiator is leaking if you cant see any leak?

If you are losing water but its not coming out of the car could mean that you have a blown head gasket. where is the coolent going?

Or your heater coil is leaking. Do you have wet floor on pasenger side? strange smell in the car?HOw do i stop my radiator leak?uhh if the leak is visible and is in the little coils then u could just put some JB weld on it, its this epoxy thing they sell at all car part stores. if the leak isnt visible u can get this little pump with a gauge on it, where u take off the radiator cap and put the pump on there and u slowly start pumping it building up pressure in the radiator and if theres a crack or a leak youll be able to see it from the large spray of coolant coming from it, if your not willing to spend the 15 bucks on the pump, you can just take it to a shop and tell them to check for leaks. another thing is if you buy a new radiator itll run you about 200 bucks, you can get one at the junkyard for maybe 50-100 but if its minor, you can just use the JB weld i suggested earlierHOw do i stop my radiator leak?I dumped a tablespoon of black pepper in my car's radiator and it plugged the leak right up.HOw do i stop my radiator leak? You can put an egg in the radiator. It could be that you are burning it... check for white smoke from the tail pipe... it could also be that its leaking down the rear of the engine due to a faulty head or intake gasket... check for foul smell under hood and in air vents.

don't know what else to tell ya untill you find that leak!HOw do i stop my radiator leak?Straight up. If I remember right, it could be a head gasket. It seeps through, and is being burned in the combustion chambers. DON'T spend money on a rad., you might not need one. Someone else should answer this and know. Good luck.HOw do i stop my radiator leak?well the leak maybe from aa krak in the pip thts not visible like a krak tht maybe in a line so wen it leaks u cant tell if its startin at the top or here so itll be best to change the radiator or pipes but first take its to a shop or findsumone or a place to lift it up and look at all the parts to see where exactly leeking and iff u cant fix it urself then bring it to a professional auto shop like auto zone pepboys and wat not and jus get them to repair it and tell em about ur problem cuz i dont think u wanna bring it to any small business shop where theyll jus fix it and be liek well u also need new such and such wen u dont jus to rip u off.HOw do i stop my radiator leak?Probably leaking through the headgasket into the engine, take it to someone who knows what they are doing, but don't change the rad it will not fix your problemHOw do i stop my radiator leak?BEFORE CHANGING THE RADIATOR TRY TABLE PEPPER AND NOTHING ELSE, IT SOUNDS LIKE A JOKE BUT IT WORKS.....DONT PUT NO RADIATOR STOP LEAK IN YOUR SYSTEM, FACTS ARE.......IT WILL PLUG YOUR COOLONG SYSTEM UP....ALSO FEEL YOUR IN AND OUT HEATER CORE HOSES TO FEEL IF THEY ARE HOT, IF SO THE WATER PUMP IS OK....HOPE THIS HELPED YA.....HOw do i stop my radiator leak?it sounds like you would be better off paying to have this one checked out, there could be more wrong with it than just a radiator,it could also have a leaky head gasket on it,either way i think if i was you id have it checked out to be sure, good luck with it.HOw do i stop my radiator leak? It's probably your waterpump. Replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, radiator. Checked alternator, good; replaced ignition module and coil. Need to know where to look, suspect choke system but I don't know how to troubleshoot it.I overheated a 97 Corolla. Blew the radiator, changed a bunch of parts, runs 15 mins and dies. Any ideas?is the %26quot;Check engine%26quot; light on? if it is there will be diagnostic codes stored in the ECU computer. those should give a clue as to what is happening.

it wont be the %26quot;choke%26quot; system because i dont think it has a choke. it does have an %26quot;idle air control valve%26quot; (IAC) and yes that could be a problem. maybe you should check the coolant temp sensor. it may have been damaged by the overheating and is now out of range.

if you are really going to tackle this - you better get a service manual and follow the diagnostic procedures.I overheated a 97 Corolla. Blew the radiator, changed a bunch of parts, runs 15 mins and dies. Any ideas?I don't have a check engine light. The air control valve sounds interesting, it acts just like the engine chokes out. • How to change the lower radiator hose in a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan?

Drain all the coolant from the radiator hose. Remove the hose. Replace. Fill with coolant. Bleed air from system.

I changed out my radiator and crunk up the car with the transmission line disconnected.?

I own a '85 Buick Lesabre and changed the radiator in it. I had the transmission line disconnected and all of my fluid shot out...which is good...cause the fluid looked like A-1 steak sauce (reffering to how dark it was) so I hooked up the lines and poored more coolant in it and now my radiator runs great.

But now I have the transmission to worry about. So how much trans fluid should I put in it? While in park the fluid shows half full...while in run it it barely shows at all and I've already put in about a quart and half. how much more should I add?I changed out my radiator and crunk up the car with the transmission line disconnected.?All transmissions are different, just keep adding until it says its full IN PARK.I changed out my radiator and crunk up the car with the transmission line disconnected.?check it with it running and in park. thats when the dipstick is accurateI changed out my radiator and crunk up the car with the transmission line disconnected.?That's right . . . . Check it in PARK with the engine running at an idle. Once you get fluid showing on the stick start adding it more slowly. On MOST vehicles the difference between the bottom of the crosshatch marks on the stick and the FULL mark is a pint.I changed out my radiator and crunk up the car with the transmission line disconnected.?If the fluid looked that bad, I would drop the pan and change the filter and then refill the trans with fresh fluid. If you do that, add about three quarts, then start the car and add till full. Then, put the shifter in all the positions with the engine running and foot on the brake, and then recheck the fluid level.

I'm changing the radiator on my 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee. How do I disconnect transmission cooler line?

I've got everything detached but the transmission line. It appears to attach to the radiator using a mechanism that I should be able to squeeze, and pull the line connection out..... But, thats not working. How exactly do I disconnect the line?I'm changing the radiator on my 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee. How do I disconnect transmission cooler line? Many of these new connectors are a use once and break trying to remove connector.

In other words, it may require enough force to pinch this thing to remove it that it breaks the connector and then you'll just have to buy new ones to reassemble or install the lines in the new radiator. Same deal on heater core lines on Chrysler products. Save the old piece so they can match it at the store. I know NAPA stocks these connectors.

I don't think there is a tool to do this but you might ask your local auto parts place.

HOW 2 CHANGE THE RADIATOR FLUID?

I would like to drain the radiator and re-fill with new anti-freeze. How do i drain it, where is the drain located, how do i re-fill it again? i have been reading about making sure that there is no air bubble left or engine will over heat... please some explain to me how to do this... thank you, by the way..it's my first time doing this, i am a female so just explain as i may not know what parts are called what.... thank uHOW 2 CHANGE THE RADIATOR FLUID?It's not too tough but you do have to have the vehicle either on a lift or on service ramps. Beyond that you just have to know which drain plug to pull, generally it's the lower radiator hose and then a plug or two on the bottom of the engine block. After that you take off the radiator cap and flush it through with water from a hose, with the drain plugs still removed, until the water runs clear. Then you replace the plugs, fill 'er up and run the car with the radiator cap off until the thermostat opens. You can tell the thermostat opened by feeling the upper radiator hose, it'll get hot when it opens. You should also squeeze the upper radiator hose once the thermostat's open so you can get the bubble out of it. Check the coolant level. Add if necessary or put the radiator cap on and you're done.

All of that being said this is the perfect job for a do-it-your-selfer, but I wouldn't tackle it without at least a hayne's manual.

Including the purchase of the ramps you should be able to do this yourself for under $50. You'll save about $10 - $20 over a shop doing it and you'll have service ramps so you can do other things on your own too. If you already have ramps this will be under $20.HOW 2 CHANGE THE RADIATOR FLUID?i dont know how to drain it but when you fill it back up just pour the water mixed with antifreeze right down the radiator to the rim and its that simple

If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms?

Will a bad radiator cap make your car over heat, how do I know if I need to change my radiator cap?If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms?Yes it will by letting coolant overflow at too low of a pressure. This can also happen if you have the wrong radiator cap for your engine. The wrong pressure rating. If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms? The only way to tell that your cap is bad is to have it pressure tested. I don't know who would do it for free. A radiator cap builds pressure in your cooling system, raising the boiling point of the coolant. Hopefully thats your problem, but I'm skeptical. If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms?A bad cap will cause over heating . Sometimes , it is not easy to tell when one is bad with out a tester . Usually an excessive amount of over flow in the bottle will tell . If you are suspicious of yours , change it . They are not expensive .If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms?Yes a bad radiator cap can make your car overheat. It can also spill coolant on the ground. Whenever you see a puddle of coolant on the ground, especially if the car is warm or running, the radiator cap is the first thing you suspect.

The way a radiator works, it's full of coolant. As the engine gets hot, the coolant expands. It's supposed to be under pressure, because pressurized coolant can get hotter (like water in a pressure cooker), so it can carry away more heat, so your radiator works better. But it can only be under so much pressure before things begin to burst. So the radiator cap has a spring in it. When the pressure gets above a certain threshold, the cap backs off and allows some coolant to flow to the overflow reservoir. When the engine cools off, it sucks the coolant back from the reservoir.

The cap has a number on it, either pounds or 'bar' (atmospheric pressure), and that's the amount of pressure it holds. If the spring gets weak, or the gasket wears out, it won't hold that pressure and you'll either not have as much cooling capacity or else it will spill coolant on the ground as it expands, instead of it going to the reservoir. There used to be machines at gas stations and auto parts stores that could measure the strength of the spring in radiator caps, but I don't know these days. You can buy another one cheap enough. It should have the same number on it for the same pressure. If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms?Put a new one on. If the problem stops, that fixed it. That's probably $10 or less. There are other places cooling systems can leak, so be ready to pay for professional help.If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms?YES IF YOUR CAP IS BAD. YOUR COOLANT SYSTEM WORKS OF OF PRESSURE EACH VEHICAL IS DIFFERENT IF MY VEHICLE WAS OVER HEATING I WOULD THINK THE THERMOSTAT. IF YOUR CAP IS BAD COOLANT MIGHT BE LEAKING OUT BUT NOT ALWAYS IT MIGHT LET YOUR COOLANT TRANSFER TO YOUR OVER FLO TANK IF ITS BAD . IF YOU DRIVE YOUR CAR FOR AWHILE THEN YOU SHUT IT OFF AND YOU CAN HEAR A GURGALING SOUND YOUR CAP COULD BE BAD.If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms?sorry babe, if you have a car built within the past 20 yrs, and its not a v8, then you probably now have a bad head gasket/warped heads. the cap could have caused it, but now chances are its bad.also pressure raises the boiling point of the coolant, like freon in an a/c.do not buy the cap with the pressure release lever, dont ask!

How To Properly Change And Flush Radiator on a 1995 Lexus LS400?

So I'm attempting to flush and put in new coolant in my 95 LS400 but I noticed that the cooling system setup is different on this car than others. Is there a write up on here somewhere on how to properly do this?

Is the coolant tank just the overflow tank?

How do I put coolant into the radiator? I couldn't eye a potential way.

Thanks. How To Properly Change And Flush Radiator on a 1995 Lexus LS400?the coolant tank is an overflow tank. to flush it, just take the drain plug out and put a water hose in the coolant tank reservoir

I have a 98 Jeep Wrangler and wanted to know how to change the radiator and water pump. how long will it take?

Not a job for a novice. There are several panels that must be removed from this Jeep to extract the radiator and several components to be removed from front of engine to extract water pump...If you are not depending on this for sole transportation then there is a way to learn. Buy a Chilton's or Haynes manual on the vehicle. It is a repair guide written for the laymen that includes pictures. It is a bumper to bumper guide for complete and total tear down and rebuild of the entire vehicle divided into specific sections easy to define.

If it is your sole transportation, shell out the money and save yourself a whole lot of aggravation.I have a 98 Jeep Wrangler and wanted to know how to change the radiator and water pump. how long will it take? Not to sure on a wrangler but I do know. There is no radiator that is going to take 30 minutes. You always have to take out more then what you expect and just be prepared to be there for a few hours. Grab you a book at autozone or somewhere like that on your vehicle. Them books are life savers.I have a 98 Jeep Wrangler and wanted to know how to change the radiator and water pump. how long will it take?radiator 20 minutes maybe

    few bolts two hoses

    water pump couple three hours

pretty easy at a shop might take 4 hrs maybe

    type into search box

how to remove radiator Jeep Wrangler

how to replace water pump jeep wrangler

    or

call three local auto repair shopsI have a 98 Jeep Wrangler and wanted to know how to change the radiator and water pump. how long will it take?some rads can be quite easy actually, but alot will not...

i did a rad in my dads old new yorker... took about 20-25 minutes, including draining and refilling the antifreezeI have a 98 Jeep Wrangler and wanted to know how to change the radiator and water pump. how long will it take? It's not too bad. The fan shroud is a bit of a pain, but the radiator is only two hoses and 4 bolts. At that point the pump should be fairly easy to get to. I would advise you to replace the thermostat while you are in there.I have a 98 Jeep Wrangler and wanted to know how to change the radiator and water pump. how long will it take?Honestly I let a 16 year old change mine out in my 99 wrangler, and he had never been under the hood of a car. It took him about an hour to do it by himself, but we made sure he had someone who knew what they were doing supervising. Took a little longer than normal because the adult didn't assist just made sure it was done right. It was a learning experience. I will warn you make sure you get a radiator with a warranty, I replaced my factory one and within a year it blew the top seal, that's why he had to change it in order to borrow it for the weekend.

Why will my radiator take only about 1 litre or so of coolant?

The shop that worked on my clutch said they would change the radiator coolant for me - only drained a bit out, just thought it was low. When they went to add more in, it would only take just over a liter.

What is going on and how is it fixed? Why will my radiator take only about 1 litre or so of coolant?YOU HAVE TO WARM UP THE ENGINE SO THE THERMOSTAT OPENS UP SO YOU CAN FILL THE ENGINE BLOCK AND HEAD(S) . IF YOU DON'T THE NEXT TIME YOU DRIVE IT ,IT WILL OVER HEAT AND MAYBE BURN UP , BLOW A HEAD GASKET , CRACK A HEAD OR BLOCK , OR ALL OF THE ABOVE . HEAT IT UP UNTIL YOU SEE THE COOLANT MOVING IN THE RADIATOR AND ADD MORE UNTIL IT'S FULL AND MOVING ------THIS MIGHT TAKE SEVERAL TIMES.Why will my radiator take only about 1 litre or so of coolant? There could be a few things going on here.

    1. The shop is trying to take you for money.

    2. There is a clog somewhere in the system.

    3. They did not compleatly drain the system. Make sure the coolant cap is off and just remove the bottom hose and you should be good to go.

If you want the collant changed I would take to and have it flushed. Why will my radiator take only about 1 litre or so of coolant?perhaps it's clogged?

How much trans. fluid does a 93 Chevy truck 350, 2wd automatic hold?

Changed radiator and started truck without the trans. cooling line connected to the radiator. The truck ran about 20 to 30 sec. and alot of fluid was pumped out. Ive added 3 quarts and it still doesnt touch the stick. How much trans. fluid does a 93 Chevy truck 350, 2wd automatic hold?I'm pretty sure it takes about 5 quarts if you just change the fluid and filter, you probably didn't loose all that much, a little fluid makes a really big mess, but id want several quarts on hand, start it and let it get warm, then check it on the stick, keep filling it until its on the full, but don't over fill it,and make sure its warm when your doing this,id only add about a quart or two until i seen where it was at on the stick, there real easy to over fill, good luck with it.How much trans. fluid does a 93 Chevy truck 350, 2wd automatic hold?If it were completely empty it would take about 8 quarts just keep adding until you see it.It will be fine but do not drive it until you get the fluid to the proper level.God bless.

Questions for UK gas boiler fitters. Is a condenser boiler the same as a combi' boiler? My exsisting one is

floor standing (in the garage). It heats water, or runs the heating too. Not sure what that type is called, have a hot water tank/airing cupboard.

What should I changed to? Don't want to change radiators, have 8, various sizes.

Not sure how old my boiler is. Want smaller but economical one. Maybe wall hanging type. Any advise please, including cost of supply and fit? Thank you.Questions for UK gas boiler fitters. Is a condenser boiler the same as a combi' boiler? My exsisting one isA condensing boiler is one that recondenses the water vapur in the flue gasses to extract the latent heat of vaporisation which would otherwise be wasted to atmosphere. They are also known as High Efficiency boilers. A combi boiler is a boiler that does away with the need for a hot water cylinder or storage tank in the loft by heating water instantaneously within it as it flows through from the mains. A non combi boiler is one that is just a heat source used to heat external cylinder and radiators. Both combis and non combis can be made in high efficiency condensing versions, and indeed by law with very few exceptions you will need to fit the high efficiency version.

Cost depends on a lot of factors but you will need your rads and pipe-work cleaned prior to fitting of new boiler as the high efficiency heat exchangers are badly effected by scale and sludge.Questions for UK gas boiler fitters. Is a condenser boiler the same as a combi' boiler? My exsisting one isA condensation boiler is a combi boiler, but not all combi boilers are condensation boilers.

If you replace your boiler, you get a condensation boiler. It's likely to be wall hanging unless you have a huge house. You don't have a hot water cylinder. The boiler heats the hot water directly - and that's where the problems start.

You need to site the boiler reasonably near the kitchen sink and bath or you'll waste a lot of heat getting the water there from the boiler. A condensation boiler in the garage is not usually ideal. If your airing cupboard is against an outside wall, you could have the boiler in there, where the cylinder used to be.Questions for UK gas boiler fitters. Is a condenser boiler the same as a combi' boiler? My exsisting one isA condensing boiler is a high efficiency boiler and these are the only boilers now allowed to be fitted (unless there are very unusual circumstances).

Condensing boilers can be wall hung or floor standing.

A condensing 'combination' boiler will do away with the need for a seperate hot water cylinder and storage cistern in the loft.

A condensing 'system boiler can be adapted to your present heating system as can a condensing 'open vent or heat only' boiler.

You need to speak to a plumber to advise you which is best for your circumstances.

Please, please take my advise and fit a Vaillant condensing boiler. This manufacturer is by far the best on the market and believe me, there is a lot of rubbish out there!

Visit the Vaillant web site and contact them to ask for recommended installers in your area.

Vaillant are a little more expensive than others but the engineering is superb and as with all things in life - you get what you pay for!Questions for UK gas boiler fitters. Is a condenser boiler the same as a combi' boiler? My exsisting one isNo you can have a combi or conventional boiler as a condensing boiler. A condensing boiler is just a more efficient version of previous units.

How do you determine that a car is a lemon?

ok i bought my car 09/05 from a dealership. its a 1998 pontiac grand prix gt and it was $6,200. well since then i've had to put over $3,500 in repairs to it.

    -egr valve

    -belts

    -window motors (both stopped working)

-new wiper motor/relay (also stopped working)

    -mass air flow sensor

-new weather stripping stuff by wipers

    -struts

    -tires

    -brakes

    -air conditioning

-oil changes, radiator flushs, normal stuff...

also i still have to get the fans fixed b/c whenever i turn my heat on they squeal and its annoying, and when my heats on it smells horrible.

no one else i know has ever put that much $$ into a car in less than 2 years.

i bought it from a good dealership it's not like its from a buy here pay here.

also it had 70,00 mi. when i bought it.How do you determine that a car is a lemon?the lemon law is that it has to have 5 MAJOR things go wrong with it within 1 year of purchase of a new car. You will have to have proof of this by dealer only repairs to your vehicle. The %26quot;small%26quot; repairs will be under new car warrantee. Since you bought a used car then you are screwed. The old saying of %26quot;caviot emptor%26quot; buyer beware. Just be sure to tell ALL of your friends and family not to buy anything from this dealer, as he probably knew the car was in this bad of condition. His mechanics will look over the vehicle when it was brought in then they will determine how much to fix to keep the car running long enough to resell it. If this a reputable dealer then he might refund some of your money since this car was in bad shape and he knew it.How do you determine that a car is a lemon? Most of the time a lemon is determined from it having to go into the shop for the same problem 3 times within a certain amount of time, and the problem never being taken care of, but I think the lemon laws are different from state to state. How do you determine that a car is a lemon?some you win some you lose. cut your losses and get rid of itHow do you determine that a car is a lemon? It looks like no one did any maintenance on this car while they owned it. In other words, it is a well used car.

    The previous owners just put gas in it and that was it....and drive it into the ground. %26quot;Could have been a rental.%26quot;

The dealership ain't about to put money into it if they can sell it. Silicone and turtle wax is enough.

All the things you mentioned are items that wear and would have to be replaced if you owned the car from day one. Except in your case you would have done it piece by piece...over the long haul.

It is a matter of inspecting the car before you buy it - even from a dealer. Used is used=it is up to you to determine %26quot;how used is it%26quot;.

There is no major part here like engine, transmission or rear end.How do you determine that a car is a lemon? As stated before the LEMON law only applies to newly purchased vehicles, or vehicles that were relatively newly purchased (ie very late model.)

Most of the items you've named are wear items (tires, brakes, struts, etc) though some cars wear faster than others. The window motors are notoriously failure prone in GM vehicles (my brother's Camaro spent 5 minutes rolling up the windows.) Its odd that the MAF went out that soon, but its not unheard of.

If its running fine now I'd say keep driving it, but if it starts to give you problems considering selling it a purchasing something else. Some cars are just money pits. Consider purchasing a Japanese car on your next go round, you will still need to fix stuff but they tend to break with a few more miles on them than the others do.

how much radiator fluid/water mixture do you need to fill the car... like roughly... i know it needs to be full... but around how much is that usually... i have a 4 cylinder engine if that makes a difference..... sorry for sounding stupid... idk what im doing... im only 17 and i live on my own and dont have the money to pay a proChanging radiator fluid... need help?If you completely drained it, you will want to get 2 gallons of a 50/50 mix. Fill it to the top and let the air work out a little bit. It will gurgle. Then fill it some more. When it doesn't gurgle any more, start the car and let it get hot. Then turn on the heater and wait for it to blow hot. Then check the level again and top off as necessary.
